Jason Ferris Makes Music
I was always going to be a musician. Dad gave me my first guitar when I was 8 years old. I remember riding my little bike around with that guitar strapped on my back. It was apparently more important to show the whole town I owned a guitar, than to actually learn to play it. Some people might suggest that I still suffer under that mentality.

Side Notes
ALL QUIET | LATER THAT SAME YEAR
Well I'm living in Melbourne and life has taken a significant detour. Music is on hold for now as I'm pretty swamped with new work opportunities. I haven't had time for the gravity of that to sink in but I'm sure some time soon I'll realise just how far removed I've allowed myself to get from my creativity. In any case there will be more music. I'm not sure when, but it will come.
THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD |
01.MAY.07
Folks are starting to ask me what's happening with the new album. I've been wondering a little about that myself actually.
The trip to India was productive on a musical level. I played a lot of guitar while I was there and got the bones of more than a dozen songs together. Unfortunately my wife and a both got sick a lot while we were over there. I had a couple of lung infections, and generally found it difficult to sing much. The dust and smoke took it's toll on my vocal cords for the duration of our time away.
I arrived back in Australia with a lot of music but only a couple of completed songs. I've got a lot of work to do to finish the other songs I've got on the table. There's a lot of lyrics to write, and singing to catch up on. Fortunately, India offered up a lot of inspiration, lyrically speaking, so I doubt I'll have much trouble fleshing out the remaining songs.
I'm still trying to decide how to approach the recording. I'm all for the DIY approach which could expediate making the record. However, I think I'd like to feature more full band tracks and that would mean a more complicated, laborious process - and more time.
I'm also tossing around the idea of splitting the album into two EPs. With the first CD of six songs to be released in the first half of the year, and the second before Christmas. This would allow me to focus my energy on a smaller project and get it out there faster.
Living out of a bag, and with a pending move to Melbourne, I'm bound to run into a few more hurdles.
I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.
